Have you ever opened up your email only to find it’s been spammed? It totally sucks. Clearing out a spammed inbox is like cleaning a dirty toilet. Annoying and not fun. Nobody likes when their email is overrun with spam! I say this with massive love but you sending out message after to message to try and get people to sign up with you, it isn’t marketing….it’s spamming.
Sending a friend request or following someone then immediately sending them a message asking what they are struggling with or if they want to join a challenge, just gross. I get these same exact messages 3-4 times A DAY! Let me say that again….I get these same messages 3-4 times A DAY, not a week, not a month but A DAY! And I’m not alone. I have researched this and surveyed people. It’s happening at alarming rates. It’s white noise. It’s SPAM!
Maybe this type of “marketing” worked back in 2010 when everyone and their mothers weren’t trying to grow a network marketing business. But now, here, in 2019…this friending then immediately message thing…it doesn’t work. Or at least does not work at a pace where you can actually afford to live off of your efforts.
Market Like the Year You Live In!
Like Gary Vee says…”You need market like the year you live in.” I’m sure you know who Gary is. If not, he’s one of the most brilliant marketers of this day. And he shows people to do it in a way that gets big results without all of the YUCK! While sending messages and inviting may work some, for the greater majority it is slow AT BEST. I will never say you won’t get any customers sending out a bazillion messages to random people. However, this is not the way to build a sustainable business. Yes it worked back in 2012 when the internet was much newer and there weren’t so many coaches and product sellers but now it’s just white noise. And the fact that this is how companies are still teaching their coaches drives me batty!
I get it though. I really do. No network marketing company can take someone under their wing and teach them proper marketing techniques. They think in terms of numbers. It’s a numbers game. No network marketing company has the capacity or time to show their coaches how to build marketing funnels and websites and all that goes along with lead generation. It’s much faster for them to get thousands of coaches sending messages and like I said, I didn’t say sending a bazillion messages won’t bring in customers. BUT, YOU won’t be bringing in thousands of customers…the company will. And where does that leave you? Getting 1-2 maybe 3 customers a month? This is why you see so many quit.
You are told to go for NO. But going for NO is actually repelling people that you might otherwise not repel. Plus there is a proper way to go for NO and a wrong way. Spamming people is the wrong way. Too many coaches are failing and quit because they hate this way of doing business. Are you one of them who sits there and dreads sending messages? You are not alone trust me. Many women who just want to help people with their health journeys dread this task every single day.
Sure, some coaches don’t have a problem with sending these messages over and over and taking the crazy amount of hours to do this. But just because you hate it doesn’t mean there is something wrong with you or that you can’t make your business work. It’s time to start making your business work for you with ways that feel good and work in the year 2019!
